Vet Hospital at the Wild Animal Park

A group of four interns recently visited the Harter Veterinary Medical Center at the Wild Animal Park. This is where the animals get treatment if it is needed. Some of the bigger animals are not able to get into the vet hospital, so they have to get treated out in their habitat. The interns got to learn more about how animals are treated, and see other rooms and labs that were in the hospital.

It often takes a while for the tranquilizer to take effect. The Park's hospital facility has a specially padded room to aid an animal as it goes down. Staff are on hand to assist as well.

how do i go about getting into this school program?? im currently going to school to become a veteriarian but i am very interested in working with the larger animals also the exotic animals

Do animals ever get injured falling after they are darted, or does the tranquilizer take a little time to work so they go slowly to the ground?
