This is some footage of how my wheels spin before and after I convert the carriers to hold bearings. I switched the stock XL-5 bushing carriers for the VXL ball bearing ones (way cheaper than RPM carriers!)

It didn't make huge difference in the rear wheels, since the tranny dissipates a lot of the rotation, but you can still see that it takes longer for the rear wheels to slow down. As for the front... pretty dramatic. :)

  • HELP!! how often do you have to change the Bearings and what do you mean byway cheaper than RPM carriers???

  • stock vxl carriers are ~$3/pair, vs. RPM carriers which are about $9/pair.

And you only have too change them when are no longer rolling freely - if they bind up, or roll roughly, then is the time to replace them.

  • so rpm carriers last longer??? Do you know an Estimation of how long they last???

  • It all depends on how your drive. RPM is known for great durability and warranty, so if you break a stock one, upgrade. Otherwise, their is no need to upgrade to RPM. (If you have a brushless car, it will have enough power that you might want to upgrade to RPM anyway!)

  • they even get better the more you use them.

  • You are so right! Now that it's a couple of months later, I timed how long it would take for them to slow down similar to what I did in the video. It took ~90 seconds, which is like 3 or 4 times longer than in the video!
