Dean, Jenna, Tommy, Family--The Music's Too Important

After Dean plays and sings, Tommy tells him it was awesome and asks how Dean got so good. Dean says he practiced a lot. Tommy says maybe if he practices, someday he'll be as good as Dean. Dean says Tommy would definitely be as good as Dean. Dean asks if Tommy would like Dean to sign his keyboard instead of a piece of paper, so maybe Tommy can get inspired when he plays, and Tommy says sure. As Dean is signing the keyboard, Tommy asks, "Dean, you're not gonna give up are you?" Dean says he's not going to give up his music and asks why Tommy asked that. Tommy says that Dean's had some rotten breaks lately, and Tommy knows how that feels; sometimes you just want to let go. Then Tommy tells Dean not to let go, because the music's too important. Dean says he won't. Tommy tells Dean this has been the greatest night of his life, thanks to Dean. Dean thanks Tommy and tucks him in.

Jenna comes in then, and Dean tells her that he's been thinking: maybe there's a reason everything happened the way it did tonight. He thinks his fans will stick with him no matter how guys like Roger Jackson try to mess up his career, as long as he stays focused. Dean doesn't think the fans care about the image and the press, only the music, and if they want the music, Dean's gonna give them the music. Jenna says that's great, but Dean still needs a publisher and a recording contract. Dean says he'll just learn to play by the rules. Jenna asks him if he thinks he can do that, and Dean says if that's what it takes, then that's what it takes. Besides, he can't let the kid (Tommy) down. Jenna says no, Dean can't, tells Dean she's very proud of him, and kisses him.

Then Dean and Jenna walk out of Tommy's room to find the hall crowded with family and friends. Frankie tells Dean they all just wanted him to know they're there for him and hugs him. Cass hugs Dean too and says he doesn't look any worse for wear. Ryan, Jamie, Iris, Hank, Kelsey, and the band are there too, and they all applaud for Dean as he draws Jenna against his side with a grin that matches hers. Thanks to Janie for the scenes.
