The Innsbrook Institute was created in 2001 by David Halen, concertmaster of the Saint Louis Symphony and the Aspen Music Festival Orchestra; Innsbrook Chairman, Ed Boyce; and Institute Executive Director Ron James.

The Institute presents a festival of concerts featuring local and nationally known musicians performing in the natural beauty of Innsbrook. In addition, the Institute provides an environment for young, first-rate music students to work with the best string, wind, and piano instructors in the nation as well as with Saint Louis area musicians.

The Innsbrook Institute Music Festival is one of the largest chamber music festivals in the Midwest featuring 20 chamber music concerts programmed by David Halen. The Innsbrook Institute provides Saint Louis Symphony musicians with a venue to perform chamber music. More than 70 musicians take part in the festival each year playing to an anticipated combined audience of more than 2,500 people from the Saint Louis region.
