  • my condolences to all americans that loved the man and artist , MR. Dennis Hopper...unfortunately, we, the romanians also lost a great actor, the master Jean Constantin, a few days ago (R.I.P.) :(((!!! R.I.P. Dennis Lee Hopper ( may 17, 1936 – may 29, 2010)...STAY STRONG AMERICA!!!

  • The scene in Apocalypse Now where Marlon is reading the 'Hollow Man' and Dennis goes off on a tangent about 'no maybes, no supposes' etc etc is amazing, it turns out that it was real and unscripted and when Marlon throws the bananas at Dennis and calls him a mutt it is real. I think Dennis was so spaced out at that point in his life he was unable to relate to in anyway and Marlon just couldnt take it bieng in his presence. Francis casting Dennis in that role however was perfect for the film...

  • GOD GIVE US BACK DENNIS HOPPER IN RETURN WILL GIVE U NANCY GRACE !!!!!

  • @nelsano3 Absolutely! Dennis Hopper saved the entire ending of this film. He was the bridge between Sheen's character & Brando. At this point in the movie, Coppola lost the focus of his script and without Hopper to tie it together, there would have been a huge gap! What's amazing is that Hopper doesn't even appear to be acting... that's how great an actor he was.

  • Brando was a glutton, you know 1 of 7 deadly sins?

  • @ScottishJapanese4eva Yeah your right, he wasnt allowed on the set so when Brando was there he was reacting to what Dennis did the night before and vice versa.. i would have loved to have seen what happened in the story he tells here.. dissing Brando in the theatre whilst watching Seven Samuri and then stumbling away drunk as hell, i bet it was well funny! Dennis was a true nutcase and a hell of a guy! RIP both of them.. they dont have characters like this in the film industry anymore...

  • @kellyadmirer1 cheyanne, supposedly, told an interviewer around the time she left a mental ward, about being molested.

maria schneider was in/out mental wards at time of LAST TANGO---and she wound up hating brando cause he came up with the anal rape scene at the last minute.

brando told sophia loren she had long nose hairs.

brando didn't like charlie chaplin, either (chaplin's underage gf, lita, was supposedly the basis for LOLITA)

yeah, brando was a great actor but a mental mess

  • @monk22yrs All true. But you have to admit he staged a hell of a comeback in the early '70s. And certainly it was a messed-up family, I don't know all the details on the Cheyenne thing but I thought the charge was based on a somewhat interpretable diary entry.

  • 'crazy Dennis Hopper' lol!

  • @kellyadmirer1 p.s.

there was an ending to APOCALYPSE NOW---which was written in 1968, with unknown george lucas to direct; coppola just didn't like the action-packed ending.

CASABLANCA was filmed without a definate ending; at one point bogart and bergman were to go off together.

a number of movies were made without a definate ending; fellini's "8 1/2" ending came from the ad for the movie.

charlie chaplin wrote his movies as he filmed them, tho in those days it was cheap to do that.

  • @kellyadmirer1 (1) cheyenne brando said her father molested; she later killed herself, and brando didn't go to her funeral in tahiti; brando's gun crazy son killed her bf.

    (2) brando was a legendary has-been before THE GODFATHER----with the director fighting to convince the studio to hire brando, and only convincing the studio after showing them a screentest with brando in so much makeup that they didn't even know it was him that they liked.

    (3) actors get away with lots of bad behavior.

  • @monk22yrs Um, the molestation claims only came out after his death from his bitter ex-wife. But why not just throw in that he admitted to homosexuality, too? That has about as much to do with his acting in Apocalypse as the other thing, that is, absolutely nothing. And Brando was already a legend when Godfather came around, not some washed-up has-been.
