You don't really see too many sunken floats these days because they are made of really tough nylon. Years ago when they were made of cork and/or soldered brass, the problem was a little more prevalent. Now days you have to watch for hard seals and gaskets because of the ethanol in the fuel. It's best to use a non ethanol fuel in carbureted engines, especially the ones with diaphragm type carbs like on weed whips and chainsaws...especially older ones.
