In this very short video I want to show that the copper pipe with about 60 inches of magnesium wire wrapped tightly around it works very well.
This is a replication of several other people who have been working with this very portable hand made battery. (Lasersaber, Lidmotor, Slayer007)
I have also made one like this with a carbon rod and magnesium. Because carbon is more difficult to find and breaks easily, I was hoping that the copper pipe could work as well, and I think it does. So far, I see no disadvantage to using the copper pipe. I need to wet both of them at least to moistness.
Also, I put some oil onto the magnesium as lidmotor suggested, and it all seems good!

  • Hi, I have seen the other videos of the air batteries also and wandered about a copper pipe, I am glad to have found your video. Could you tell us the voltage and amps you are getting and maybe let it run a week or two and see what has happened to the magnesium or copper pipe over that time frame. I wander how long these air batteries can last before the elements degrade them.

Also, would you mind letting me know if anything happens if you put a magnet on or nearby it, more or less power?

  • @the1969info

This was just a me-too video. I apologise for leaving out the details.

    The voltage is around 1.35v.

The mA on this was under 6mA. My half ohm resistor was exploded and no longer working when this was fresh so I cannot tell what the mA was. The fact that it runs this jtc with 2 secondaries means it is less than 6mA

I later covered it with masking tape and when it dried it stopped working.

So, I am in the process of looking for a middle place of long life and working.

Nice going. If you are using copper, I wonder what would happen if you used a solid copper rod instead of a tube?

    Bill

  • @Pirate88179 I guess it would be more expensive than the carbon if it were solid.

It is interesting. I do not think we know these answers yet.

  • I believe you misunderstood what an air battery is. An air battery is a battery that uses oxygen in the air as an electron acceptor. This does not imply that the cell must be dry in order to work, on the contrary, it absolutely needs water to work:

    4e- + 2H2O +O2 -----> 4OH-

Believe me, I've been making air batteries for more than 4 years. There are loads of scams out there, and it's sad to see how easily people are manipulated. Lasersaber, Lidmotor, Slayer007 are all scammers, I can assure you.

  • thanks jeanna, you r so kind! your barber pole is looking good to!

    love & light =)

  • though a chick would have a cleaner working area, but then you would qualify as a true scientist..... good work thanks for the video's

  • I like this idea. I agree with you that a copper tube makes more sense than the carbon rod for several reasons. Mainly it is easy to get, doesn't break, and costs less.
