A violent earthquake - measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale - struck the Pu'er region of South Western China in early June. The quake destroyed about 90 percent of homes and buildings in the region and many will need to carry out major repairs before returning home. Operation Blessing partnered with China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation to help the displaced families.

The problem with China is China it self. The almost all military Gov there are so proud of their own ( not so ) achievements, that they see the outside world as nothing more than people trying to take over their control of their people. They are afraid that outsiders might take away their pride in looking after its people.
Chinas gov main goals are to make its people see and also believe that they have the power and the control over everything that goes on in their country.

With all the foreign aid dollars the US has sent out for nearly 100 years to the third world civilizations, you would think we would send some engineers to help these people build sturdier homes even if it is mud brick and timber. It's just sad that so many die and at one time. Very sad and shocking.

National Public Radio's Melissa Block has been reporting from the quake zone all week.
One of her reports is paraphrased here:
The baby was found in the wreckage of a building. The mother was found kneeling above her child in protection.
She did not survive. But she saved her baby.
A cell phone was tucked into the baby's blanket. A text left on the phone said, "My dear, if you can survive, please remember Mom loves you."
