"Minstrel Math" is a very old comedy routine based on making 7 X 13 = 28. Miller's very laid-back and natural style in the way he responds to Davis shows why he was a popular comedian on the minstrel show circuit.
This is a clip from "Yes Sir, Mr. Bones" (1951). Read about the history of blackface and minstrel shows at: http://www.black-face.com

  • You really can not be mad at this video because this type of comedy was considered okay in this time period. But is it okay for one race of people to make fun of another race? Maybe not, but comedians do it all the time. The thing that makes this kind of comedy so hard to accept is the history behind it. Black people were considered mindless, breast like creatures, that has no sense of awareness.

  • @Bakuninite87 My "ideology," if any, is my business. I love and admire the talent and memory of Emmett Miller. If you don't, then that's YOUR business.

  • @Hoosiercorporal if your ideology is white supremacy ,then , i am passing ideological judgement.

  • @Bakuninite87 OK, by today's standards, I guess this qualifies as "racist." But this wasn't filmed in this day and age. Times have changed. Try to enjoy the humor, without passing ideological judgments.

  • @Hoosiercorporal you cant avoid the overt racism , no matter how you slice the pie.

  • This appears to be similar to the Ma and Pa Kettle math sketch.

  • racist but extremely funny.

  • It was hilarious! Emmett Miller was a true American original -- he has almost legendary status. I think we need to stop screaming "racist" every time we see something like this, and just appreciate the talented mimicry for what it is -- funny.

  • Going back in time always disappoints...
