I was born in Japan, raised in Ottawa, Canada & lived there til i was 9 & since i've been here in America for the past 6 years... there's no such thing as an american accent lol. i've heard accents like southern, NY, NJ, mid east and then there's slang, which everyone uses or tries to.. i don't have a canadian accent but i do say "eh" a lot :p

@stunnaonflyrims Oh I mean the street/new york accent in particular. Trust me. I know people who put on that accent. And I certainly don't mean all Americans, but I've had a lot of friends who put on that accent in order to fit in

It doesn't bother me one bit. People are born and most certainly raised differently and if their accent changes... so be it. :)

Hood dialect isn't "American" necessarily...It's just hood slang. That's it.

Um, yeah...nope. Most Americans speak just like you. But this term..."American." Technically, Canadians are also "Americans." You just mean folks who sound like broke-brained rappers lolol!
Thats just the whole ghetto-hood-street-wannabee situation. A big portion of americans talk just like you
