I have one but don't know how to use the tone mode

I've had this model for about 6 months now. In reality it will detect a penny-sized object in clay soil down to about 4 inches. The deepest I've ever detected metal was about a foot deep; about a 2 pound steel object. Mine detects my refridgerator at about 18 inches away. It's fun and I've enjoyed it.

Dose it make sounds when it finds something ?

Its not fully waterproof. Only the coil or the round thing at the bottom is and the shaft it is connected to is. If you get the control housing with the knobs wet it will ruin the detecter. If it was waterproof the company would mention this in the manual and in advertisements as selling points.

I had no idea this detector was waterproof! It's my first MD & here i am at the beach running from the surf as it came in and out. In the owners manuel it never stated it was waterproof. I feel so silly now. I am such a M detecting NEWB!
I like when the black guy said "Discrimination Mode"
