Glossy vs Matte LCD Monitors

The only time glossy looks good is when the screen is turned off. It's horrible in bright rooms.

I used to like glossy and prefer them..but..I am now realising how better it is to use a matte one. Its so much better for the eyes if you are spending alot of time in front of the monitor :))

Meh, I've had them both and as long as you're in a room where you don't have light behind you, glossy is the best. It's true that the colors are much more vibrant and the blacks are much deeper. Glossy is terrible on laptops due to the reflections you get.

i would love to buy a iMac again but only if i have a Matte option , i bought a 21.5" but not for long , i live in a flat , i have roof windows direction south so i get full sunshine all day long , it was absolutely unusable from about 6am to 10pm in the rest of the time i could not switch on a light in the room , it was like sitting in front of a bathroom mirror , so i could not get any work done on the iMac, sold that thing again and got a old white polycarbonate iMac again

When I buy my iMac I will most certainly buy an anti glare cover. Even if it means sacrificing some picture quality. This is what I think of glossy displays: BUAGHHHHHHHHHHHHH (slobbers a little)
