The a cappella group Sassafrass singing "Sapphire, Ruby, and Gold" at Contata 2008. This song is a "revolutionary pastoral" in which two sets of lyrics are employed: one demanding that the tyrannically oppressed feudal subjects arise to overthrow their lord usurpers, the other innocently hailing the change of the seasons. The revolutionary lyrics are foremost under normal circumstances, but since they follow the same basic melody as the pastoral, should a soldier pass by a gathering at which the song is sung, the singers can switch lyrics quickly, hiding the dangerous words beneath a screen of foliage, as it were.
