Riding my electric chopper (really a bobber! - motorcycle)

I went out for a range test on my electric motorcycle and my friend took a short video. I'm going about 60mph in the film. The sound you hear is actually the chain. It went nearly 40 miles today on one charge and hit speeds up to 70mph. It's a harley frame , AC induction motor and Lithium ion batteries. I built it from scratch.

Some of you asked what kind of batteries - Samsung 18650s - straight lithium ion. DONT use this kind of battery unless you like fire between your legs. Build around Lithium iron phosphate.

@drcelsius Actually, a bobber IS a chopper. The original choppers were bikes where they chopped off everything unnecessary.

It was a while later before "Chopper" was associated with the added on (not chopped off) long front ends and crazy rakes.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with calling that bike a chopper. Only people too young to know what choppers really were would think there is much of a difference.

Learn from history not TV..

Chopper = stripped down bike frame with wheels, a seat and bare minimum, sometimes even less..

First choppers were bike frames with wheels, they didnt even have lights, everything was chopped off.

Nowadays all they do to their so called "choppers" is add stuff, more and more stuff.

It goes against the very concept of a chopper.

Fat and chunky has very little to do with a chopper.

TV bikes they make should be named "Adders" or "Stuffers" not Choppers..

Magnets for me.

It is the same principle as a vacum cleaner, but better!

Magnets creates electricity AND motion.

Motion can be amplified with electricity, thereby, more leftover power utillized for more motion makes more electricity until a point were it reaches its max, in short - magnets make its own power!

What if we utllized that kind of power in full skale for propelled planes, making it able to generate its own power?

Not possible?

Then try use your brain to come up with something =P

@TheWrectify Oh please since every person customizing these since day one had their own interpretation about what the ideal was they were striving to build, and the results varying just as wildly, do we really need to chastise people for not picking the proper catagories their work falls into?

I don't think many start off thinking what label they will put on their dream, they just build it and enjoy the result.

I've done a few cars(batvette!) if I do a bike someday I'll call it MY MACHINE.

apparently O.C.C. has clowded what a "bobber" really is.

A "bobber" is a stock bike stripped down of anything that doesnt produce performance.

A "chopper" is a bike that was made to look cool, and also perform at the same time.

The bike in the video above is a "chopper" being as it most likely didnt start out life as a production motorcycle.

People need to learn the difference between a "chopper" and a "bobber" is.
