Small rodent gets exercise in temporary habitat. This was its shortest run caught on video, but showed the most variety of behavior. I was glad to see the rat keeping fit, knowing it would need that after being released back into the wild. However, running for minutes at a time does not make fascinating video.
At the end of the clip, watch carefully in the lower left corner to see the rat drinking some water after its workout.
The music is from my own collection, because AudioSwap was having problems and took several days to replace the audio on my other upload of this video. Music credits:

Update: captured rodent was released near an isolated riverbank out in the countryside, on the evening of Saturday, August 22, 2009, after less than one week in captivity.
@TechLegends - That is one reason I did not keep it. When I first captured it, it had been making so much noise in my apartment, I thought it might be part of a family group. I hoped to capture them all and release them together. After several days it became clear there were not any others, so I released it outside town, near a river. I had read that rats in the wild often live near waterways.

Are those things dangerous to keep? I thought they could give you diseases or something.
