Christle Carlisle and Molly Haight move large rock at the Slave Quarters dig site at Tannehill Ironworks Park during UAB Field School in Archaeology. The young women were staking out a 1-meter excavation unit and this large, heavy rock was in their way. They photographed it, plotted its location with a total station surveying instrument and then moved it. Meantime the guys continued screening for artifacts. The rock was once part of a support pier for a house ocuupied by slave workers at the iron works during the Civil War.
