I have always loved this song! Miller and the Old 97's are one of my favorites. This one is a nice, simple chord progression. The hook, I think- is the melody Miller sings over the progression. I didn't figure out this one was in "D" tuning until I checked out some videos of Miller playing it live. I am beginning to really like tuning down to D. It gives the acoustic guitar a nice, rich and deep sound. I use pretty heavy strings so they don't feel too "rubbery" and loose like this tuning kind of feels on my Les Paul.

  • hey dude.is it in standard tuning??

  • @ginabrigida Hi. No, actually it is in "D" tuning: from 6th to 1st string-D, G, C, F, A, D. It gives a steel string a real mellow, warm tone-especially when the chords are those lower, open chords like in this song. Thanks for watching!!

  • Hey - I know this has been here for a while but it definately helped me get the timing down. A nice way to show it in play along fashion. Previously I transposed it to the key of F but the D tuning is the way to go! Thanks ---Mark

  • @itunaguitar Hey thanks! I know I have a bad camera angle but I guess it's ok. Yeah I like the D tuning-it gives it a nice warm, full sound with the chords in this song!

  • Thank you for posting this video. I learned how to play this song by watching this....thanks again.

  • @Ballermhcdj Thanks-even with the bad camera angle? Thank you for taking a look at this one.

  • @overitandu Hey thanks! I really appreciate you looking at this!

  • @rspao Yeah sorry the camera was a little off center! First off-the tuning is "D" -from top to bottom: D, G, C, F, A, D. The verse chords are G, D, C, Amin, G, D, C. The chorus is G, F, C ("am I gonna be lonley for the rest of my life"; "unless you come around-Amin, C repeat; Repeat verse/chorus parts; Bridge: ("no one else can fix me") Emin, D, C, G, F, C; "you are the only one"...Emin, D, Amin , C. Back to the chorus part and out. Hope that helps.

  • what your chords for this song
