Some tests that we do a couple of times a year in Finland with national high jump team. We do that static test also without weight and even with 40kg and 60kg weights.

We try to do those drop jump tests with as fast contact time as possible. Usually contact time is beetween 130ms and 200ms. Faster is always better and over 200ms is unacceptable! Leap hight is usually beetween 55cm and 82cm..

  • nice video man. whats your standing vert/running verts?

  • I once tried to test my vert with one step approach. I got 82cm.

In a 220cm high jump, our national high jump coach measured 96cm vert for me by 3D-biomechanical motion analysis.

  • @jujupanderi i find this very interesting. your basic vertical jump numbers are fairly low compared to your high jumping. the one step approach that was 82cm or 32", exactly how did you do this? one step approach meaning you took one step from a standstill or you jumped off one foot? did you get a running start? i know you compete at a high level and i am only trying to help but it to me it looks like you lack a basis of strength compared to your inherent plyometric ability.

  • It's interesting that for your static jump you kind of do a good morning, while the hip and knee angles maintain the 1/4 squat. Not going lower. What do you think about that?
