yeah i know what your saying. especially if this was a service call i would be compelled to check the fiiting at the base of the head for leaks.

Yea....but most of the time the heads are outdated and need replacing. By digging up the entire head you can make sure the 90 or nipple is good, and for someone who doesnt know squat about irrigation, this is a good idea.

pop-up sprays are pretty cheap depending on who made it and where you get it and if the body/can was intact you could just leave it in the ground and replace the guts but it has to be the same pop-up. but that way it saves you some digging.

Well, you DID make it seem easy. But it does sound expensive though, because you have to buy a new head.
If the lawnmower guy dinged the head, there must be an easy AND economical way to fix it rather than replacing the entire thing. Please let me know.
My lawnmower guy is purposely dinging my sprinkler system each month in order to earn money fixing it.

I've used thousands of Hunter and Rainbird adjustables. As long as they are put on tight, a filter is used, and buried correctly....I never had a problem.

The rim on the nozzle also seems to break off.
Fixed sprays are better. (and vandal resistant)

Grass was already dead...due to the broken head. You tell me how to replace an outdated spray without digging it up. IDIOT!! I taught irrigation for three years. How the fuck would you know the head size and keep the dirt out. You dont know shit!
