This was probably the scariest part of hiking the Kalalau Trail. You're already carrying over 20 extra lbs. on your back, so one slip here, it would likely be game over. I think Jake and I decided the fall would probably not kill you, but the waves would.

  • Been there, done that. This video should be required viewing for all people even thinking of hiking the Kalalau Trail.

  • Yikes! My stomach just did a flip-flop.

  • Can't wait to hike this!

  • nice

  • tatras are easy comparing to this trail and i hiked both - tatras and kalalau

  • dude those would be like the easiest trails in Tatra mountains, Poland.

  • OMFG

  • there is quite a bit more trail but this is the worst section. this is referred to as "the balcony" on the kalalau trail and is the narrowest and closest to the ocean cliff. it is also the driest part of the trail, most all other parts have heavy vegetation unlike this area.

  • it is at about 6.5 miles, the waterfall you are probably thinking about is hanakapai, which is actually on a 2 mile offshoot (from hanakapai beach area) of the main kalalau trail

  • Where along the trail is this? Is it before the waterfall @ 4 miles in or after?
