I loved the Fimation cartoon, the movie, and the show "Defenders of the Earth." I'm sorry to say, this show sucked. (I mean WTF with the portal? they should have called this show "Flash Gordon SG-1")

I have never seen this show before, but I have seen the serials as well as the 1980 movie. This show does not look like it follows either one and might just be trying to cash in on the name only.

@KitlerAdolf a series with predecesors let alone a history should be followed to an extent, i never knew this series had so much hated back lash from it, i watched it and enjoyed it, i did not go in to it with preconceptions of what reincarnations flash gorden was before i thought aura and balon were very good, ming could of been more menacing but the idea may of been we have this clean cut actor ralston from canada i believe how could someone who looks normal be so evil i like ming

I have seen this show. this looks sort of like a cheap attempt at how to make flash gordon the smallville way. the actors really arent winning any oscars with their preformances. I mean honestly. I know that this show isnt worth a 100% performance effort but if you are getting so close to be outdone by fan film actors it's time to step up your game. This show is just a bad idea.

There is a certain appeal to the placing of the real world and a garish comic book universe side by side and letting them interact. The problem is, this has already been done much better with the long running, successful Stargate series and its many spinoffs. Otherwise this series might have been on to something, but in light of better shows of the past it merely looked derivative and unoriginal. And cheap.

I kind of liked the tacky title music, though.
