In this video our fearless leader Joel meets Andy Chipling, an origami ninja and expert on long distance paper plane flight, to discuss how our paper planes will be created specifically for near-space flight.
More about Project Space Planes:
In October 2010, we will attempt something never attempted before. We're going to let 100 paper planes fly into the outer atmosphere, 30,000 metres above the earth. Each plane will carry a message on a Samsung SD memory card. You can upload anything you like to one of the planes via the website... words, pictures, video, music... anything that fits onto a memory card. If you find one of these planes, let us know and we'll get you hooked up with the sender for some record-breaking fun!
The Register already did this.

Oh Andy..thank you for replying. I'm amazed and appreciate your efforts here and realize you aren't misrepresenting anything.. Jealous I'm not making better time for my passions. I love paper airplanes...mine never worked very well. I'm going to put a bit of metal in mine and see if I can get one going

But Joel..we love you! Really...this was good. You did a great job and we just aren't worthy of this airplane genius. Probably because it looks too easy..like Picasso

my question what if it goes into the ocean and no one finds it :(
or even worst it gets sucked into a airplane engine and messes it up :(
not being a kill joy but this would be sad :(
