We come to day 5 of my trip to California, 2 days in California itself, and today I had the privilege to visit one of the most famous engineering sights in the world, the Tehachapi Loop. I first started North of Mojave, and thought of slowly heading North/West but, I couldn't resist and just headed to the loop itself. After arriving at the loop...WOW....There's no real way to describe it, you have to be here in order to appreciate its excellence! I'll definitely re-visit this place again, and stay tuned for more from CAJON and FULLERTON.

Enjoy the video!

Train 1: Right so the first train of the day was a BNSF manifest exiting the mountains and about to enter Mojave. Friendly crew too!

Train 2: I headed to the Loop and my God is it beautiful! Well almost immediately I saw a train coming into Tehachapi Creek and into Tunnel 9. This train in total took 40 minutes to clear the loop!

Train 4: See link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVionZK6KL0

Train 5: This train caught me off guard. this northbound Z train quietly exited Tunnel 10, so i didn't have much time to set up. This train sported some a nice variety of stacks, Autoracks, and TOFC's.

Train 6: Shortly after the Z passed, a freight from just below the valley gets the green and starts heading upgrade to my location, on top of Tunnel 10.

  • Awesome shots!

didn't UP make it illegal to railfan The Loop?

  • @daltonauto Technically, yes, but for the most part, it's all intimidation by this UP MoW a-hole known as "Rusty". I saw at least 10 people in the loop so it's better if you're in a group.

  • Nice video, where are you traveling from??

  • @AmtrakCal462 Colorado. Thanks!

  • excellent video! And srry to nit pick but on the UP freight 8054 is an SD90/43MAC not an SD70M.

  • @NampaSubdivisionAJV Damn it...Thanks for pointing that out. I'm off today.

  • 2:55-3:26 Double action! Love it! PAuse at 8:10. You'll know what I mean.

  • Wonderful. This is a favorite railfaning location. I hope someday I could visit this place and personally have the opportunity to watch and photograph the trains snaking over themselves.

  • I really am suprised that an H2 GEVO has a GREAT K5HL

  • @trainsruleandroll no problem man just trying to help out, hope you had a great time down in Cali.
