@dawn220 Sound Factory was the SHIT for the post-G era. Clearly it was a copy, and Jr. used to live at the G but let's give them credit, because especially during the early Sound Factory years it was fabulous-actually it was better to me than the last couple of watered down years at the G before it closed in 87. Can't fault SF for the music the played the best of the music of that time. They got closer to that G vibe than anything else of that time, or since actually.

@kipbritton Hey Kip! *waving* I agree on almost all of your statements with the exception that The Sound Factory should not ever be mentioned with the likes of PG, Catacombs, or the Clubhouse! The Sound Factory benefitted from the closing of many of the aforementioned. Although the Sound Factory was fantastic (at the time) it paled in comparison to these venues musically IMO. FWIW the Catacombs was paramount to my experience along with some NYC clubs...

@INFINITEINDIGOCHILDE A heavenly, strong voice with a beautiful timbre/resonance! I was standing right near the stage when she performed at the Garage... all I can say is what a voice!!! Geezus!!! May she RIP...

Classic from the late Larry Levan and Syreeta, she was another Minnie Riperton with the sonar/ siren-like "squeaks" Lol.

CLASSIC NYC Production, the city where it all started..(and those few who lived it know it).

@Jamallus yeah, Tee Scott would play the hell outta this at Better Days. I miss that place.
-
Try "Tee Scott" Of "Better Day's" fame rockin' this before both of them in N.Y.C.!

@njplr Alas, I never made it to the The Catacombs, but chile, the stories I heard...missing it is one of my greatest old-school clubbing regrets.Going to the other two, on the other hand, are very likely my greatest old-school joys.
This, Ladies and Gentlemen, is The Paradise Garage. This is New York at her fiercest, her realest, her ovahness. Learn it. We live it still.

Now now, give props where props are due, and in this case, they go to DAVID TODD of the Catacombs. He was working this sawng at least THREE months before Larry caught it. No disrespect to Larry, who will always be the Children's High Priest of the Dance Floor - but David got there first this time. LOL King & Varick, 12th & Walnut - you were, are, and always will be my Real Church.
