old strimmer engine modified into a stationary engine, running on ethanol and castor oil mix. running at low revs, still a few more carb adjustments to make. doesn't need any extra cooling running on alcohol

  • Cool :) not sure what the carb is its been laying around my shed for a while I have also had a few rc boats and planes so know about castor, I was adjusting the carb because it was running lean, if you noticed the revs stayed up when i closed the throttle again, same with putting my finger over the air intake just richens it up to stabilize the revs, it still needs a bit of adjustment

  • That's awsome, is that carb off an Irvine engine? looks like it.

So you're running it on glowfuel, a few things to bare in mind is the castor oil will gum up the bearings if left for any length of time so you might want to squirt some lubricating oil in after you've run it.

Also I notice you were richening the mixture up by winding it counter clockwise, to stop it you're best squeezing the fuel line.

hope I'm not telling you anything you don't already know LOL. I fly R/C aircaft
