1993 BBC adaptation of the Tennessee Williams play that adheres closer to the original text then does the 1959 film. Features Maggie Smith, Natasha Richardson, Rob Lowe and Richard E. Grant.

  • You're welcome and no, I don't have any more of her work. I uploaded this because it was so hard for me to find, I figured I'd share. And I think Smith does a better job in the role than Katherine Hepburn. Though unfortunately Lowe's role is pretty small compared to the same role in the movie.

  • I'd remember seeing this on PBS years ago and finally found it on The Maggie Smith Collection dvd set. She is a tour de force in this. I have to agree that I enjoyed her performance better than K. Hepburn's. The range of emotions that she exudes in this film is astonishing. I simultaneously disliked Violet and felt sorry for her. What makes this performance even more amazing is that she was, rumor has it, battling breast cancer at the time.

  • This is one of the few remakes I ever liked along with the remakes of Scarface, 12 Angry Men, and Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. Sometimes I admit Richardson's performance was better than Taylor's. If the 1993 remake copied the 1959 version beat by beat word by word, Natasha Richardson's act would beat Elizabeth Taylor's act in a landslide. So one version is not better than the other, they are just different in comparison. Richardson should have played in a remake of Cat On A Hot Tin Roof.

  • Just about a year before Natasha died, I had bad mouthed her stating "Who the hell she thinks she is trying to emulate the great Elizabeth Taylor in a remake of Taylor's Best films! After I heard she died, and heard she was so beautiful inside and outside, I really felt like shit! Natasha Richardson is one of my top three favorite actresses of all time. So talented, modest, gorgeous, and unforgettable. I will never forgive myself for badmouthing her. She ties Taylor's performance. So rare.

  • Thank You very much for sharing. I am a big Natasha Richardson fan and I want to see everything she did. She was too amazing.

  • Thanks for uploading i've been wanting to see this for years.
