At MIX 2011 Microsoft Research showed how you can take a selection of regular photographs and compile them into a 3D image using nothing more than a basic PC.

  • @timshapiro this mix of high+low quality object gives opportunity to have lightweight +high quality characters and game begins. one project of such videogame costs 25 million$ in which 15 is fairly of modelling process. there is some hardware which helps in 3d object developement, it reduces 15 million to 5-6 i gues... but with such software which can make 3d model out of just a few images, these 6 millions will surely come down to 1. soon i and people like me will lose their jobs :) :) :)

  • @timshapiro today's videogame industry goes beyond 25billion dollars per year worldwide. videogame companies hire 5years+ experienced 3d sculpters and modellers, texture artists, to model high quolity 3d objects for games. but computers cant handle these high quality characters and other objects. that's why they project high quality model onto it's copy ; which is in lower quality and save it like this.
