Took my m91/30 and scoped it using Weaver's side mount system #1 side mount base and tall rings. Made the bolt modification out of a 5/16 grade 8 bolt that I brazed to the rifle. worked Great. Cant wait to shoot it. My plan is to give it to a friend in Alaska to us it as a Moose hunting rifle.

  • @yir1988 No i was careful to just drill deep enough for the depth need for the screw, especially the first screw on the receiver the rest probably do not matter. you are going to need an 8-40 bottom tap to tap the receiver and whatever drill that is necessary for that tap. I drilled without a press but you better have a steady hand. The mosin steel is not very hard so it was not too difficult, but if you have access to a press use the press. good luck.

  • @swenner64 I already did something like that, maybe I should try cork, but I'm going to apply steel bedding in the future.

  • @MavHunter20XX Make sure that your Barrel does not touch the stock or the hands gaurds except at the end of the stock. One thing that works well is to put a little piece of cork just under the end of the stock this will lift the barrel and will prevent the stock from push the barrel around as you shoot. Look it up on the net it is called corking the barrel.

  • @MavHunter20XX I was shooting Silverbear Sp 203

  • @swenner64 Oh wait....which one is the silver bear? The ones I had were coated steel case w/ FMJ lead ball.

  • @swenner64 Silver bear was a pain in the butt for me. Half of them I had to give a palm to the bolt handle to extract them out of the chamber and didn't find much difference in accuracy than silver tips, but maybe because I had just found out my original stock is warped. I just sawed of a section of the forend, acetoned it, soaked it in water then shimmed the barrel and forend. Hopefully I can get better tha 5" at 100yrds.

  • @MavHunter20XX Thanks for the compliment. No I did not bed the stock but I corked. This gun is very very accurate. I am sure that it will do moa groups. I did 2" with Siver bear, I am sure that it will do much better with hand loads.

  • Yup I see it now, looks good. However, I always thought the bolt handle mod was too noodle looking (long), not just yours.

Have you bedded the stock yet? I plan to install pillars in mine. They're $10 at rocksolidindustries(dot)com
