Tokimeki Memorial is a fun Japanese dating-sim game that basically boils down to micro-management and a good understanding of the Japanese language to get the most out of it. Your goal is to fall in love with up to thirteen girls (one at a time) within your three-year stay in High School. You boost various areas of your character from intellect to personal hygiene and you can only be with certain females only if you meet certain requirements. This game also has various mini-games you can play. The great artwork, quirky characters and loads of replayabilty make this one a winner.

There is a little known game also by Konami that uses nearly all the same principals from the Tokimeki Memorial series but within a medieval fantasy setting with battles known as "Mitsumete Knight", which was released for Playstation. We own it and it too is a cool and substantive game. A more traditional RPG was made from Mitsumete Knight known as "Mitsumete Knight R". Enjoy.

  • I like the uniqueness of the Konami Logo animation in this game, it's a nice touch (most of the other games of the series, except for Tokimemo 2, use the walking Konami logo animation used on most Japanese Konami games). Too bad it wasn't used on the Playstation version of TM1. :(

Speaking about the series, I think I've never asked you this before... Which Tokimemo games do you own in your massive game collection, aside from this TM1 Saturn version ?

  • @AceNoctali I've had the SFC game cart-only (sold it though) and have had exposure to TM2, but I honestly don't own any others right now besides the L.E. Saturn game. Now that I'm working more, I've been hoping to do some more importing and was interested in a complete copy of the Super Famicom game (no particular reason other than I have a lot more SFC imports than I do imports for most other systems) and the puzzle game.

So you have the Saturn Limited Edition of TM1 ? That's awesome :D

Actually you know, while I don't own a Saturn (yet), I have this one, as well as the L.E. version of Tabidachi no Uta, both boxes unsealed. Reason why ? I got each of them for the ridiculous price of 105 yen !! No reason not to pick them, as a fan of the saga. :p

On the TM puzzle game : there's actually three of them : TM Taisen Puzzle Dama 1 and 2, and TM Taisen Tokkae Dama. Which one do you plan to get ?

  • @AceNoctali I meant to add an "s" to that, lol. If there isn't much Japanese, I'm more inclined to pick the game up, primarily because I have a lot of Japanese visual novels and RPGs already, though I pick up pretty much anything if it's cheap enough. Can't beat that TM deal either, lol.

Don't worry, there's not a lot of Japanese in those puzzle games, and it's an easy to understand one. You see, subbing a playthrough of one of them doesn't take me long (usually 2 hours for a part, when something more meaty such as, for example, a part of MitsuKni's Priscilla Events took me a good 1/2 day), so... Also, the storylines aren't needed to enjoy the game, & you have an option allowing to desactivate the skits, just like in Puyo Puyo.

  • @AceNoctali

Oops, I meant "Limited Boxes SEALED", aka never opened. sorry for the mistake ^^''''
