Quebec City Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) Protests, April 2001 in Quebec.
This video is Part 2 of the VideoActive 3 (VA3) Preview video produced in February 2002.
It was George W. Bush's first visit to Canada for the Summit of the Americas and security included a massive chain-link wall, and thousands of riot police and tear gas cannisters. Over 60,000 protested in the streets and the entire city was gassed. Hundreds were arrested, assaulted, beaten and jailed for standing up for democracy and against corporate trade deals that undermine rights and genuine prosperity in the Americas.
This was a tear gas holiday no one would soon forget.
