Former TV game show host Bob Barker and a representative of PAWS (Performing Animals Wildlife Sanctuary) were invited by the City department that manages the Edmonton Valley Zoo to meet Lucy the 32 year old Asian elephant. Barker also spoke with the people at the zoo who have first-hand knowledge about Lucy and her life there. Barker has been lobbying the zoo to sent Lucy to a sanctuary in California so she can socialize with other elephants. Video by Ed Kaiser / Edmonton Journal

  • Toronto Zoo and the city of Toronto has now agreed to send the elephants to PAWS and Bob Barker is paying for their move. I wish Lucy could join them at PAWS. As a Canadian I'm appalled by our zoos thinking that elephants in Canada is alright. Elephants need to be in groups not kept singularly no matter how well they are taken care of. As well as they need a warm environment year round. I applaud Bob for his work in helping PAWS.

  • bib barker go back to the bleeping price is right were you belong you move lucy she will die from the long trip and she can't ever move go back to the price is right bob god

  • Love you Bob Barker! Good job! Love what you stand for!

  • @mightyelroy you're kidding, right?

  • Bob Barker wants the Toronto Zoo to give their elephants to the US. With the US economy the way it is, can they really afford this? Besides helping elephants, has Bob Barker considered helping his fellow Americans? Many do not have jobs or a decent place to live, or medical care.

  • Crazy to have elephnats in northern Canada

  • Well, at least he understands that she should not be moved now, but I think that it is absolutely ridiculous that she should be moved from where she is happy and well cared for. She has a large enclosure and receives top treatment and care.

  • Well since it was the United States who took Lucy's family away I think we should rescue Lucy's family who were no more than valued for breeding purposes in 2007 by the United States. Get Lucy's family back :)
