i'm very sad. On my pc: Intel core i7 3 GHz, Asus P6T, Corsair 12 GB ram this boot race ends with a draw!
30 seconds for Ubuntu, 30 seconds for Windows 7

  • well u got 2 OS's

how do you espect to be fast

  • do the speed of system boot up depend by the number of os?

    i don't think so

  • Maybe next time when you do a comparison, you could run the 2 parts of the video in split screen.

And I want to know what song is playing in the background, it's pretty cool :-)

  • thx, i'm not very expert in video editing :D

the song is artist: Down By Law title: (I Wanna Be In) AC/DC

  • jajaja..... no lo creo... Hay videos que demuestran que ubuntu 9.10 KK carga en menos tiempo...

  • look at the progress bar...

i ran ubuntu at 0:29 and the desktop appeared at 0:59

with Windows 7 i ran on 1:35 and finish at 2:05

i'm the first on blasted about this! trust me....

  • any way i can install in intel i3 2.40ghz 2gb ram? i have 32 bit disk

  • Both of the arguments are right, if this were the case. Ubuntu 9.10 can be installed as a program subset of Windows 7, so that a person on Windows 7 can access and uninstall ubuntu.. thus it is not really on a different disk partition. In that case, Windows 7 and Ubuntu would both be slower but not only one of them. on a normal install, different disk partition , Ubuntu is certainly , much faster due to the lack of heavy duty programs one would normally install in windows, my case being CS4:)

  • @redspade04

stupid people should not have a youtube account

coz they're posting some senceless comments and replys

    fuck you bitch

  • youre fuking retarded. oses are stored on separate partitions... oh wait, did your retard attacks happen during thinking this stuff through. was you thinking data has a weight to it and thus causing the hd to slow down. how is could it make it run slow? lol, thats honestly how stupid you sound. i have 9.1 ubuntu booting in 11secs do to some tweaks and 14secs for os x. fastest i could get 7 was 40secs.... but i only have 3 oses, so if i get rid of 2, maybe i can have instant on rofl! nOOb

  • @bader3751: I didn't find any information on that. In addition to this I said "effectively" on purpose, because of course it will make a difference but on a level that's much lower than a full second count which is what this video's scope is.

  • except the fact that having 2 os on one hdd creates a bias towards one of them, one partition will always be faster then the other one

  • Holy shit 30 seconds! 6 months later when sp1 comes out 5 minutes, holy shit!

Very lovely pc you have ^_^.

  • Luca, it doesn't affect it. SutkasFan doesn't really seem to know what he's talking about.

  • SutkasFan, the BIOS has nothing to do with the boot time. HDD speeds have everything to do with load times. Having an additional OS and/or partition doesn't make your computer boot any slower (effectively).

It all comes down to what is loading with the OS (i.e. kernel, services, programs, etc.).

  • SutkasFan, I know, but whatever kind of computer you have, Windows should not take longer to boot up over time. It should always take the same amount of time to boot -- if you're properly taking care of it.
