  • This is not so related really but i wanna ask how can i like insert a 3d model into a real live recorded video and make the model drop shadows and look like its there?

    Very very nice 3d!

  • Thanks :)

You would need to use matchmove software like Boujou. Casting shadows involves creating 3d representations of the items the shadows would be cast upon AND creating 3d lights that approximate the lights in the scene. Then use compositing software like Nuke to add it all together after it's all rendered. A lot of work...but fun

  • how do u rotate stuff.. ?? :P

and what about posing.. u do it on maya or zbrush it self?

  • It is mostly the camera that is animated around the creatures using Maya. I posed the characters in ZBrush....except for the Octopus creature I rigged in Maya to pose the tentacles.

  • Kickass-- I saw the octopus guy on Zbrush central. Did you go to school for this, and if so, where?

  • Hey Thanks cowsquid. I went to school at The Art Institute of California - SF

  • Enigma hell yeah !

  • Hey, I think your models were all awesome. Did you rig the tentacle creature in the beginning yourself as well?

  • one of the best works I've seen!

  • Yeah, sooo....PFT......

Yeah, who cares? when i can make a BOX IN blender!

Bet you're sooooooo jealous, arnt ya?

  • @kokumosu They don't, it's just that they can't use such high detail models like this in games, it would be impossible to run on anything short of a goverment super computer.

  • Can I work the model in to the program (3d max)

  • why do outside animators have better designs then actual game devs?

  • @maxvharper Good question.. i can answer.. max and maya have similar abilities but zbrush is more like real sculpting and much easier then the other programs you cant even compare them.. its best to use zbrush for detail and painting. after you block it out in other programs.

  • Why use z brush? Doesn't Maya have all the modeling tools you need to have the same result?
