Ted Kennedy has a featured video - umm, why? And is he just the first? What happens when the presidential elections get into the fray. Ack! I'm scared.

  • I haven't been watching youtube that long but even in the 3 mths. I've been here there has been a complete change in venue for sure.

More shows of NBC, Fox etc. (or rather, trailers) are being shown as well as political videos. When I first came here there were mostly homespun videos which I found fascinating to watch. It was the reason I came back. :)

  • mmhmmm those are the videos I like too, and I have only been here a month or so and even I have noticed a change.

  • One thing to know: George Bush will not be running in '08, don't worry about that. But I'm rather offended that YouTube is leveraging their opinions here. It's bad enough people upload stolen content, but then that stolen content is featured, which is obviously a reflection of opinion.

I have a very strong political opinion, but I prefer not to make that my YouTube focus.

  • Oh, I hear you. That's right I forgot that he couldn't run, but that my point still stands really - it would seem this has become a very popular platform for special interst groups (political, corporate, etc.) that will drown out the voices of the real amateur. :/

  • Me either!

  • hehe *shrug*

  • Yep...I totally agree. The powerful have enough platforms, IMO. Oh, and if I didn't make it clear (which I realize I didn't) I liked what you said :-)

  • Hmm maybe, I thought the same thing until I saw 146 other videos on the subject that haven't been featured. But I hear ya, I suppose he has a pretty big voice where it counts.

  • Very true. I think maybe I am just disappointed that hard work of some good amateurs will have an even harder time getting noticed.

  • *Sigh*, yes this may be an omen of things to come.

Still, people say this is better than tv, and it is. No commercials and we can just do a search on what we WANT to watch. Show me a cable company that lets you just dial up exactly what program you want to see right this minute.

So I guess you throw in some politics and...it's more like television after all. But still better :)
