Just FYI, if you are playing on PC....All you have to do is watch the above video of where Gulum-Ei is supposed to be (by the bonfire in the cave) and open your console ~ and type "player.placeatme 00013284". This will force Gulum-Ei to spawn and you can then talk to him and finish the quest.
