@kfsipdog The ESC is 10 amp it can not handle full throttle of the "BRUSHED MOTOR"
Full throttle of the underpowered motor pulls 15 amps at full throttle the ESC is actually designed to cut out to protect the parts, however it also crashes the plane.
I dont recommend this plane everything I read here happened to me, cut out during take off, the ailerons didn't work, after 2 crashes and some upgrades it flew, but hell I could have purchased a nicer plane for the money I spent on this one.

How does the hobbyzone super cub compare with the j-3??

I bought this as my first trainer. I did some modifications right away to make it fly like a trainer.
-I switched to a 3s 1000mah battery. (it weighs 100g less than the NiMH that's provided)
I also decided to stop using an ESC meant for NiMH on a Lipo so I'm currently working on a brushless conversion. So, all in all I'll have 180W of power with a total of 140g in mass reduction.

how fast do u think it has to go just to stay off the ground

IThe model is too heavy and underpowered. I have crashed it due to the ESC cutting the motor at full throttle. I have to keep the throttle trim tab almost all the way down to keep the engine from cutting off on a bench test. I haven't tested it in the air yet. 48 years old been flying for 30 years. Not for the beginner. Has potential if the company would make a few simple design changes: LIPO for lighter wing load, brushless, bigger prop. 200.00 it's a bit high for this low quality. So close.

Hate to leave a negative sounding comment, but those looking at this plane should check out the Art-Tech version. It's 2.4Ghz, Brushless, has a 20amp ESC, 3 cell Lipo battery, a 40" wingspan, is 4 channels and has more scale details. Better all around.

@sandeepnij I dont know, not all pipper cub planes are alike, the main difference I found is in wing design (for better lift you want a good curve) and control surface functionality. You need the control surface to move easily, freely, evenly, and equally, if one does not move like the other the plane will not fly right.
The plane advertised here has none of the above!

I WANT ONE! I WANT ONE! I WANT ONE!
How much does it weigh, & what size motor is in it? If it's anything (weight-wise) like the Hobbyzone Cessna AKA: "Sky Pilot" then I'm not interested.
