We need to be less destructive. Just because someone can't grasp the concept of what is going on don't proceed to calling them names and making destructive comments at them to try and deplete them any more. Instead allow them to express themselves as you expect the same. If they cannot be changed they cannot... but fighting with someone you don't agree with only gives them further ammo when they turn to call you an extremist.
