This is great! I feel like my audio school ripped me off by not showing this technique. At live sound the emphasis was put on getting everything loaded and unloaded quickly so we did a lot of figure eight rolls with a noose tie so they could be hung up. fast.
Then again, this was the same school that told us in in 1991 that digital recording would never overtake analog recording and that it was "unlikely" that people would be not use prof studios in the future. So, yeah, unhireable..

Nice job, thanks! Now when are you going to tackle that orange jungle of a utility cord behind you?!

This is a perfect video to show all to properly warp them and love how your descriptions are just RIGHT ON! subbed!

@gigbutt Thanks sir. I've kind of figured out my own working method which involves turning my right hand every other loop. It's not as clean, but it does follow the coil of the cable. What can I say, I seem to be dyslexic when it comes to learning this sort of thing. :)
speaking of XLR.... Ric, do you know what XLR actually stands for?

@jjlwis you can read about the invention and subsequent naming conventions that were used at the Wiki: This window won't let me post the link....search XLR in the Wiki for the background history.

Best video on this i've seen yet... And i still don't have it! I wonder if my cheap patch cables just have too much of a 'kinky memory' that keeps me from getting proper loops?

@rapmaster entirely possible....the twist might go the other way. Try wrapping them left handed!
