Niall the Meddler

After declaring himself null and void after "falling on concrete" [editor's note: twisted knee while kicking], Niall Lehane remarkably cropped up to foil the frontrunners' plans on more than one occasion. Having denied Darragh O' Hanlon a win on the 11th (coming from behind to share the bench pin with Darragh), he then continued to be a thorn in the side for Noel (incidentally playing with a thorn in his ball) - coming a cropper to Noel's vicious assault with a grubber on the 13th bridge, winning the penultimate 14th hole (and thus keeping Darragh in the lead by a half over Noel), but nothing could come close to some Lehanigans on the 15th and final hole...

Scores going into it: Darragh 5.5, Noel 5, Niall 2. Darragh makes the unusual mistake of overshooting the face pre-pin, leaving Noel and Niall with relatively easy shots to win. Niall toys with throwing the hole, thus handing Noel the victory, but pride overcomes him and he relegates a furiously inconsolable Noel to co-captain status.
