As the story goes, the master tapes of the 1972 Jazz Festival gig are lost - so here's a lone taper's recording of the radio broadcast. This runs from I Wonder into Awakening.

The funky jam at the end of the section was labelled Binky's Bean. This, in turn, has (maybe not alone) led to setlist-based objections as to the Montreux origin.

Either way, it's a great concert - in the running for being called the MO's best. So I thought this was worth sharing (especially since I still had all the leftover video bits).

  • Great performance --- thanks for posting!

  • Interesting video - friend and subscribe for day trading, day trader, day trade videos, technical analysis...

  • the video has nothing to do with the music. It is from another concert.

  • This song is called "I Wonder" and written by the violinist Jerry Goodman. A studio version can be found on the Lost Trident Sessions.

  • Thank you for posting! Any original Mahavishnu material is important, I feel. The fact that this has decent to good sound quality is even better!
