Dog-Day Cicada Molting from Nymph to Adult

This is the amazing process of a Dog-Day Cicada (Tibicen canicularis) shedding its larval skin to become an adult. It has lived underground for the past 3 or 5 years and is now ready to buzz and buzz and buzz for the entirety of its week or two as an adult so it can find a mate before it dies. Beautiful! Who needs aliens!?

Hah! yeah, well, I actually wanted something 'buzzy' and slow.... so this was buzzy and i slowed it down - kind of annoying, huh?!

I have just started working with an old friend who is a very talented musician - hopefully, we'll get some good original music to go with these edits soon!

I like at 6:34 where it changes from a male cicada to a female cicada. I think that's a bit more than incomplete metamorphosis. :P
