The first part of this clip is of two young female adders basking in the Forest of Dean. I then move into the forest to try and find some wild boar or fallow deer, which is not easy when you have a tripod and camera with you.
I then search for reptiles and amphibians under some corrugated sheeting, which has put down as artificial rufuge for them.
Finally the pond is in the middle of the forest, nowhere near the public footpaths and forest tracks, a sanctuary for birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians.

  • How serious is a bite from these snakes?

  • Actually, they may be Males. As with Adders and most species of reptiles all over the world ALL newborns look like females, you will never see a grey adder that size, babies are ALL a ginger/brown colour. Hence they look like females. Good vid though :)

  • A couple of beauties there. Very well camoflaged
