In this test we are using a large variable frequency drive to electrically turn the generator (motor) so we can test the gearbox and lubrication system. Maximum speed during this run is 25,000 rpm. Rated speed is 72,000 rpm. To generate electricity, this machine requres a gas generator to provide hot (or cold) pressurized gas to drive the turbine. There is no gas generator connected in this test and we are consuming electricity, not generating anything but heat and noise for now. Next step is to connect a gas generator and produce electricity.

  • so are you hard at work on a gas generator yet?

  • Looks good Mark. A simple way to turn hot gas into electricity. Something that could be repaired and maintained by an average mechanic, not a high dollar technician. I know you're thinking about waste gas as fuel this would be cool for a micro co-generation plant.

  • Nice work!

  • Good to see you still pushing the envelope,

Love the sound of a turbine.
