@younghyme well typical metal crank the gain 9 or 10 contour on 10 and most rythem sounds are treb high like 6 7 mid 4 bass at 6 7 you gotta mess around to see what sounds go to you i like a good balance with mid and treble and bass my settings are like treb 5 mid7 bass 7

yeah i like it. It just needs effects and a tad bit more gain. But other than that, its a good un.

you gotta try out amps to see if your pickups will do in my opinon dont swap pickups its unescesssary unless they are really bad for metal. Always try to find an amp with a good dist sound if you cant get a nice pedal a multi effects or dist. pedal and you can always boost gain

what kind of les paul was it? i have a black beauty with the 3 classic humbuckers. would they have a high-ish gain or will they b a little flater on the metal stuff? If so, what pickups should i get? Iwana keep the overall classy look of it intact, but i need tone.

@ThrashMetalTrivum Sounds great to me never had a problem with volume you can get it up to 7 before it begins to squeal unless your futher away from it but 5 is my band practice volume and live and thats jammmin volume lol you can crank everything to 10 and get it to 7 and itll sound good but may need to turn down bass lol but yea wouldnt worry about it
