Like in communist Cuba, people could not own land or houses,cars, invest their money, have a business. The government gets the lion's-share of their checks. The money is for rationed food, rationed clothing, rationed personal items, and rationed other itemsfor the house or a hobby.The communist party lives higher than this there FYI.

Cuba before communism was one of the best countries to live in Latin America.It had one of the biggest midle class as well. Communism took the wealth of the non-communist rich&middle class&made them"classless" which was another way of saying"poor". Since 1959 only the communist have wealth. Castro himself is worth a billion dollars. Outside of the communist party there are no Cuban millionaires or billionaires, or real middle-class..

Communism works best on a small scale economic sense like the kibbutzes in Israel. Not in large scale political sense as in Russia, Eastern bloc countries, China , North Korea, or Cuba.
