@odysseasX It's just that the stupid trve kvlt retards will say anything that has more than 100 fans is shit! Anyway I reckon bands like Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir and Emperor evolved black metal into something better, most black metal bands around are repetitive and bland. In the 90s CoF and Dimmu Borgir were appreciated by the underground, they never use to be hated so much. I think a lot of the people who hate CoF and Dimmu haven't even heard them and are just trying to go with the act.

@odysseasX Let me correct you, Cradle of Filth started out as death metal with some Gothic sounds here and there. They became blackened death metal at Total Fucking Darkness, became Gothic/symphonic black metal at V Empire, symphonic black metal at From The Cradle to Enslave, became Gothic metal at Nyphetamine and became a mix of symphonic black metal and Gothic metal at Godspeed. Just because something's mainstream doesn't make it shit, mainstream's just a dominant trend.

@Laprevraven I like how those bands have evolved...except Mayhem I mean. Everything after De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas has been less and less influential to me.
