Baya Benmahmoud, a young, extroverted liberal, lives by the old hippie slogan: "Make love, not war" to convert right-wing men to her left-wing political causes by sleeping with them. She seduces many and so far has received exceptional results -- until she meets Arthur Martin, a Jewish middle aged, middle-of-the road scientist. Bound by common tragic family histories (the Algerian War and Holocaust under Vichy), the duo improbably fall in love. Amid the bubbly amour, humorous lasciviousness and moments of sheer madness, filmmaker Michel Leclerc injects satirical riffs on such hot-button sociopolitical issues as Arab-Jewish relations, anti-Semitism, immigration, and racial and cultural identity. From Music Box Films, in theaters June 24, 2011.

  • @xjuyonx La mer - Jerome Bensoussan, David Euverts

  • Does anyone know the name of the song that's playing starting at 0:58?

  • @Sanriko lol, I'll have to get it then :D

  • @AzraelofLegion Actually, yes, it is :) Visually, it's quite beautiful and though the plotline can be a little predictable sometimes, it's still watchable. But like I said, just trying bearing with the subtitles, cause' the dubbed version of this movie sucks beyond reason it's almost funny. But not really :C The voice actors they chose might as well have been picked randomly off the street, seriously... :P

  • @Sanriko I never seen House of Flying Daggers, is it worth a one time watch?

  • @AzraelofLegion I think you may be talking about the movie called "Mongol" :) Yes, I agree, that is a good movie :D

I understand the feeling of wanting to be pulled into a movie and that having to read at the same time can be distracting, but I've come to hate dubs sometimes because I've come across some that are so bad, I can't enjoy the movie at all :( *cough* House of Flying Daggers *cough* XD

  • @Sanriko True there are some really good foreign movies out there. I love that one movie (can't remember its name v.v) that was about genghis khan. As for multitasking reading and watching a movie i find it to be annoying because doing so takes out the joy in watching it, I like being sucked into the movie. I would much rather prefer a movie to be dub over then it having subtitles, but that's me lol.

  • @AzraelofLegion Oh come on, don't be like that >.>; There are a lot of foreign movies out there that are great! I mean, is it that hard to multitask reading the subtitles?

Besides, if you avoid movies just because you have to read subtitles, you'll miss out :P

  • Oh YAY!!! A movie i have to read (rolls eyes).

  • Ridiculous. Conservative men are the only ones with money, that's why she sleeps with them.
