The saxillo is a single reed conical bore wind instrument designed and made by Linsey Pollak. It is like a wooden keyless soprano saxophone. Linsey was initially inspired by the Hungarian Tarogato to design a similar instrument but without the keys. In 1987 he made his first Tarogatino and over the next 24 years gradually improved the design (now Mk XVII) and renamed Saxillo. The saxillo has a range of 1 1/2 octaves from middle C up to g and is fully chromatic, using cross fingering like a recorder. The music in this clip is called "Give me 5" ......from his solo show "Live & Loopy" and is live looped using jaw harp. Kaossilator and a bubble wrap drum, with saxillo soloing at the end. Linsey makes these saxillos to order.

  • @dzzz78 I'm not having any problems with it...

  • Finally a Legit WOOD-wind

  • great stuff

  • nothing like following a dream, love it.

  • @dzzz78 you're right, I listened to it again without my headphones and could barely hear it. Dunno why my headphones made it so much more audible.

  • @ShreddyGnarGnar I have genelec 8030 and a sub, so I doubt the speakers are the problem :) I just listened again and there are lots of low bass but the overall volume is maybe 50% or less what it is with most other audio sources (youtube videos or not).

  • @dzzz78 like you can't hear it? What kinda speakers are you using? I've got on headphones and it sounds fantastic.

  • Can I purchase the duster one?

  • The instruments are creatively made, yes. But the music is also outstanding!

  • ,man, you'r homemade instruments are very impressive. and you got quite some funk going on to. keep on playing !
