I disagree with the idea that this author's introspection is somehow "unique". Or with one of the reviewer's opinion that now that we are so "prosperous" we have time to think. People have been thinking about life and all these kinds of topics for thousands of years. Aristotle anybody? Also, people in under developed countries also think about happiness and other issues, they just don't get the opportunity to write about it and publish books.
