  • I lost my husband five years ago in Afghanistan, because I was also serving in Iraq, I was asked if I wanted to wait in the United States for his remains or if I would like to escort him all the way to his resting place. Well, like any other soldier would have done, I decided to escort him all the way from Germany to where he had decided to be burried. When I entered that C-130, my heart sank! I was face to face to my husband's casket covered with the USA flag. He was honored all the way home

  • I was in the Army 30 yrs ago ... Army Special Forces 10th Group SFGA ODA216 (Green Beret to you civilians) .. jumped out of many C130's at night and 600 feet above the ground ..... broke a knee skiing the Russian Borders on Patrol, my 1st Team Commander was born/raised in Bolivia, we did our job and then some ... it's opened many doors, now I'm an airline captain, and this song reminds me of some friends that came home on the angel flights. God Rest your Souls guys. WE MADE A DIFFERENCE.

  • @archetypezer01 I never considered the fact that someone who knew any of them would come across my comment. It was just what was in my heart. I'm glad you liked it.

  • @KiraJ202 three of my best friends were on that. Thank you for honoring them so! Especially considering one of them loved this song

  • I was headed to Durango, CO around Labor Day week/end 2011. I heard an interview that riveted me. It was with Radney Foster, and this song really shook me. Thank you very much. Your story speaks across all sorts of lines. Thanks again.

  • Lost one of my buddies a couple weeks ago in afghanistan. His truck was hit by an IED. We went to basic training together and he got sent to a different unit. It hit me hard when I got the news, just makes you wanna fight that much harder. Miss you brother. RIP.

  • I carried 9 of our Heros in Iraq. Everyone of them was different, not just a body bag. My heart sank to depths I had never imagined everytime. I thought of their famlies, their wives, their children and their friends. I made sure everything we did was of the upmost respect and honor. Blackhawk Crewchief Iraq 03-04 we were their first step in a long trip home. God bless all of our troops past, present and future.

  • This is a beautiful song with a beautiful story behind it. Thank you all for defending our country.

  • Very nice , Very nice indeed.

  • As an "Ex Squaddie", for any who may not recognise the term, I served in the British Army, In Aden, now called Yemen, amongst other places.

I think this song is very moving and reflects the sentiments many feel. It moves me and i wonder if current combatants realise that we used to bury out fallen in the theatre of conflict.....

In Aden, in "Silent Valley", we left some of my colleagues, who didn't get an "Angel Flight" home....

  • @ViudaNegra31 being military myself and deployed in afghanistan at the moment, it brought a tear to my eye reading this, thank you for yours and your husbands ultimate sacrifice

  • This song has been mentally playing in my head ever since I read of the sad news of the recent crash in Afghanistan. Those brave troops earned their ticket aboard the angel flight, and they are home. To the 31 families, please stay strong, and know that others will never forget the sacrifice made by your loved ones. It's never 'goodbye', only 'see you soon', and you will see them again someday. Peace and love be with you.
